the movie "UP" always makes me cry
just the beginning part with ellie and carl. we are watching it now at the duttons with the holpers!
we got the christmas tree earlier today, too, and it was quite the adventure. david and my first tree
here is the order of activities:
1. david and i find the perfect tree in the first 15 min!
2. we find out there is sign that says that these have poor needle retention until december 15th
3. we can't agree on any other tree! i want the small needled fur tree and he just wants a fat 8 footish tree
4. the duttons have already found their tree and are long gone enjoying hot chocolate in the heat
5. maggie and aunt cathy stick around to help us out (and believe me, we couldn't have done it without them!)
6. we finally find the perfect tree that also happens to be the biggest one in the place! we cut it down on both sides of the trunk!
7. we can fit it on the cart and try to pull it on the ground!
8. mark and thomas come to the rescue!
9. tree does not fit in the shaker to get the deadness off but it does barely fit in the netting machine (to tie it up) even tho we almost broke it (the tree and machine
)
10. 4 men try to get the try on top of the car but the netting breaks!
11. back to the netting machine
12. we shove it in the back of the holpers van!
13. we drive it all the way to campus and in the mean time i remember that we forgot to pay for the tree!
14. we call back and they were nice and said we also forgot david's jacket with his wallet in it
. we say its a downpayment :)
15. we successfully get it in the house on the second try (make sure those needles are going the right way :)
16. thomas steps in dog poop!
17. the tree is too big for the ceiling!
18. david tries three different saws to chop a half foot off the tree
19. mark tops it with a star ( with sawdust and needles all over the floor
)
20. tree now takes up half my living room for the next month
